Metro-1 launches ‘SecuCare’ mobile app for safer commuting

The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) operator of the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro-1 corridor on Thursday launched an application named ‘Metro SecuCare’ wherein commuters can report to Metro authorities during emergencies and distress like situation.

The facility is said to be more beneficial for women commuters. The app allows the user to be located with the help of the GPS location and immediately the security guards at the particular Metro station would be mobilised for assistance. The application is available for Android and iOS smartphone users. However, the feature only works if commuters are using the Metro system and in the station premises.

Abhay Kumar Mishra, CEO, MMOPL, said, “Our motto is the safety of commuters. With the help of this application, commuters will get prompt help in case of an emergency.

With just a click of the emergency button on the application, the commuter can take a picture or make a video which will get transmitted to the central security control room along with the commuter’s train number and exact location.

Further, the commuter will immediately get a call from the security control centre soliciting details for preliminary investigation before sending an alert to the security response team at the approaching station, to handle the situation. An option also allows commuters to alert their family or friends during an emergency.

“We give paramount importance to the safety and security of our commuters. With Metro SecuCare, we intend to use the digital platform to enhance the safety of our commuters, particularly women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled commuters. 

Quick response in an emergency will further boost the sense of security and safety that our commuters,” an MMOPL spokesperson, said.
