United Airlines has made several enhancements to its mobile app, including the ability to change and cancel flights.

The latest version of the app .

New enhancements include the ability to store Mileage Plus and United Club cards to the Apple Wallet, ensuring that “customers always have their information handy when making reservations and checking into United Clubs”.

In addition users can now change and cancel flights directly within the app, although certain reservations, “such as reservations purchased through third parties, will continue to united.com to allow customers to make changes”. The carrier said that support for more reservations changes to be made within the app itself “will continue to expand in the coming weeks”.

A new beta service has also been added enabling customers to track their bag within the app – users can see real-time updates informing them when a bag has been loaded / unloaded, and when it is available at baggage reclaim.

Finally United has also added a new feature for users whose devices are compatible with Apple’s 3D touch capability, allowing them “to instantly navigate from their iPhone’s home screen to book a flight, check-in and view their flight status in the app”.

Commenting on the changes Linda Jojo, chief digital officer at United said:

“Every day 800,000 customers rely on our mobile app to book reservations, view flight statuses, check-in and access a variety of other handy travel tools we’ve made available through our app.

“We’re constantly making updates to the app that help our customers manage their travel with us at the touch of a finger and access even more information about their flights as quickly and conveniently as possible.”
