One of the most stressful roles a person can play in life is that of a caregiver. Caregivers not only push themselves to keep their loved ones comfortable, on time for appointments, well-fed and nourished and on top of their emotional and mental needs, but they typically have their own families and needs to look after as well. All of this can place a great deal of stress on the caregiver, causing them to feel strapped for time, energy and even sanity.
Pfizer understands the needs of not just those affected by cancer, but also the needs of the ones who care for them. They have developed the LivingWith™ mobile app. While the role of a caregiver can be stressful, this app may help eliminate some of the worry and confusion that comes with caring for a loved one with cancer.
I have encountered cancer in my lifetime with not only family members but friends, and I can tell you how difficult it can be to stay focused. When a fellow educator was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early thirties, I can remember how all of the school staff went into a hurried frenzy to provide her with the support she needed. Oftentimes, however, we weren’t sure exactly what that was or what that meant. During times like these when some guidance and organization is needed, the This Is Living With Cancer LivingWith™ mobile app can help.
While it may seem trivial, I can still remember how much meal trains helped. Not just for our fellow educator, but also for my mother as she was battling cancer. Sometimes just getting dinner together at night could be an overwhelming challenge. After a long day of treatments, it can be quite a relief to come home and have dinner waiting. This is one of the simplest gestures of love and support that a caregiver can lend, and I have seen firsthand the smile on faces when the gift of a hot meal is waiting.
If you haven’t heard of This Is Living With Cancer, here is what you should know: Pfizer offers This is Living with Cancer™, a national awareness program that includes a free mobile app for anyone living with cancer called LivingWith™. It is designed to help manage some of the daily challenges faced by people living with cancer. With this app you can monitor health concerns, access health information, keep your schedules organized, notify friends and family with updates and even create meal trains for families to partake in. In the case of our fellow educator, when caregivers are multiple people or even an army of support, an app such as LivingWith™ can help keep everyone on the same page. This can not only provide peace of mind for the caregivers, but also for the patient as well.
Healing happens when everyone bands together as one. The LivingWith™ mobile app can help keep all caregivers unified, organized and on top of the patient’s needs. What could be better than that?
